Sekep was born to a rather affluent Vulcan family in 2236. His father, Ra'ken, has been a member of the Vulcan Science Academy since 2227. Growing up in that atmosphere was what lead Sekep to initially decide on a path in medicine. Sekep's mother, Loran, died when he was only 3 years old, leaving him with little memory of her. In 2352, Sekep was joined to Fera, a young Vulcan female and daughter of a close family friend. The two were never mated, as Sekep's eventual duties would keep him too busy. He continues to suffer the Pon'Faar without mating, by channeling his energy, and utilizing the teachings of the Kohlinar.

Sekep achieved Kohlinar in 2250, at the age of 14. At that time, he applied to the Vulcan Science Academy's lower school, where he studied Astrophysics. He graduated in 2254, and made the decision to serve in Starfleet after finishing the remainder of his education. He would continue at the VSA for another century - completing doctoral degrees in over a dozen fields of medical science. He then turned his sights on Starfleet; graduating from Starfleet Academy in 2362, he majored in Medicine with an emphasis on Terran, Vulcan, and Klingon Physiologies.

Sekep's first assignment as an Ensign was on the USS Aristarchus, where he served as a Medical Officer. One year after he joined the crew, he was promoted to Lieutenant, Junior Grade. Being Vulcan, Sekep was perfectly suited to the rather boring duty aboard a tug. The Aristarchus, A Ptolemy-Class Tug, was never engaged in any heated battles, tense situations, or anything else that might lend an air of excitement. The ship merely towed cargo and occasionally, a few guests, from one system to another. Since Sekep could not feel boredom, he never suffered as his shipmates often did.

Once he had been aboard the Aristarchus for a year, Sekep was transferred to Starbase-74. His new post proved to be a bit livelier. He was the Assistant Chief Medical Officer aboard the Station which was positioned near the DMZ between the UFP and Gorn Hegemony. Even though never involved in combat, the Station saw it's fair share of rescue operations, as well as a couple of stand-offs.

In 2368, Sekep had earned his way to promotion as a Lieutenant Commander, and took over as the Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS Khitomer. He would remain at that post until 2373, when he was again promoted, this time in conjunction with the Khitomer being de-commissioned. He was subsequently sent to the USS Archimedes along with several other Khitomer crewmates.

Sekep is a typical Vulcan. He has no sense of humor, and is very "by the book". Even though several people consider him to be a friend, he does not return such affections. To those who do not know him, Sekep may seem a little haughty. He walks with his head high, eyes forward, and rarely makes eye contact unless speaking with someone. He invokes logic at every opportunity, and is sometimes confused by the vastly illogical attitudes, and actions of those around him.
