William (Will) was born on a ranch in Texas, on earth. His family have been raising cattle and farm animals such as horses since the early 1800's - on the same land, and in the same fashion. While he was growing up, Will's head was always in the stars. He wanted nothing more than to sail across the universe in a starship. But he was a notorious underachiever - his grades not being very good, and his academic ability a looming question. At the age of fourteen, Will found out that one of his cousins had joined Starfleet. She came by for a visit after graduation from the Academy, and William held her attention with a million different questions. The fire was ignited, and he made the decision, within himself, that he would do whatever it took to become a Starfleet Officer. His grades in school increased dramatically, and he even graduated from Secondary School third in a class of over 250. His application to Starfleet Academy was approved, and he began classes in 2343. Not wanting to be left behind, Will took on an Operations Major. He knew that is was the most difficult of the courses taught at the Academy, and the one that would most likely lead him to command of his own ship someday. Above all else, that was Will's desire - to be in command of a starship. The four years went by fast; Will didn't engage in any of the revelry or social events typical of a Cadet - he instead remained on course, and with his nose buried in his studies. He graduated in the top 5% of his class, and was allowed to attend the Command Academy after graduation. Two years later, he was placed as an Operations Officer aboard the USS Percival. It was only a year after his arrival on the Percival that Will was promoted to Lieutenant, Junior Grade. His time at the Command Academy counted toward his promotion time, and he seemingly moved ahead of those who joined the ship at the same time. He remained in the Billet of Operations Officer, and was again promoted four years later; this time to Lieutenant. Upon his promotion, Will was offered increased responsibility as the Assistant Chief of Operations aboard another ship, the USS Lightfoot-A. Aboard the Lightfoot, Will involved himself in as many things as possible. The ship was being used as a Border Patrol Vessel along the UFP/Romulan border. The tour of duty was rather light and easy so far as workload, giving Will an opportunity to learn a great deal about the command of a department. Once he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in 2358, his ability as a Leader was evident, and he was placed on Starbase-74 as the Assistant Operations Manager. Working on a base with nearly a quarter million inhabitants was a thrill for William. He would remain aboard for a total of eight years, eventually taking over as the Operations Manager in 2361. His continued excellence, and hard work would pay off in a big way when he was given his Command Exams, and made a Bridge Commander in 2366. With his new rank, and desire to proceed in the Command Field, Will was transferred to the USS Khitomer upon the request of the CO, Commodore Hawke. He would serve as Executive Officer on the Khitomer for only four years before being thrust into the center seat; although the circumstances of that promotion haunt him to this day. In 2366, the Borg launched an attack on the Federation - assimilating the Captain of the Enterprise-D, Captain Picard. At the time, the Khitomer was too far away to assist; they were dispatched to Sol, where they joined the fleet for the Battle of Wolf 359, in 2367. The Khitomer was damaged, and sustained over 100 casualties, but were still considered fortunate by comparison. They were in spacedock for only six months before being sent out again, this time to a more peaceful spot along the Klingon border. In 2370, the Khitomer was dispatched to a distress call. When they arrived, they found a Klingon Freighter under attack by two Ferengi Cruisers. They were acting independently, and without orders. Whilst defending the Freighter, the Khitomer took minor damage, and lost nineteen crew; one of whom was Commodore Hawke. William was informed by Starfleet Command that he was to take over as Commanding Officer. The loss of his mentor, and friend was a great burden, and a feeling of guilt in the method of his promotion has continued to follow Will; he was unable to accept command of the Khitomer due to his feelings. Unable to continue on the Khitomer for personal reasons, Will was transferred to the USS Archimedes, where he was assigned as the Commanding Officer. The Archimedes is a Science Vessel and is staffed almost entirely with Science and Medical personnel. This assignment is a far cry from the Command Will had been grooming himself for over the previous 20+ years... |

Will is a very outgoing person. He's never been married, but has had several long-term relationships. He is informal when it comes to his Command Staff, but may take a while to warm up to others. The bonds formed with his XO and 2XO are often tight, and resemble a family in almost every way. Will happily takes the role of father-figure for many of the young people he's served with. He has a very dry sense of humor, and might take some getting used to. |

Excerpt
from the Chief Counselor's report, USS Khitomer (2370):
"Commander Robison still harbors ill feelings toward the Borg, as well as the Founders, and even Cardassians in general. He blames himself for the loss of many of his crewmates, and feels personally responsible for the death of Commodore Hawke." |
