General Awards - In Order of Precedence

Spirit of Archimedes Award (!)

This award is presented on behalf of the entire crew to someone who has done something so amazing that the sim is markedly better; warranting very special recognition. The Spirit of Archimedes Award honours the indomitable spirit and perseverance of a man who risked his very life teaching about science and maths. The dual meaning also refers to the ship which is named for that very scientist, as anyone who receives this award is, without doubt, part of the heart and soul that makes this sim so outstanding - and fun!

*Outstanding Contribution Award ()(#)**	Any player who contributes to the sim in any extraordinary way will be presented this award. Submitting useful Plots or Sub-Plots, assisting other Players, giving the GM a hand now and then - these are all ways to stand out and qualify for this award.
*Player of the Year Award (POTY) ()(#)**	All previous POTQ awardees are candidates for this award. The one player who is voted on by the crew as the most deserving will be presented this award during the Anniversary Party for the Archimedes each year (4 December).
President's Commendation (Civilian)	Awarded by the President of the UFP to any Civilian attached to a Federation Starship or Instillation. Criteria for this award are known only to the President; as the purpose for such an award can be for any number of varying reasons.

*Player of the Quarter Award (POTQ) ()(#)**	All previous POTM awardeed are candidates for this award. The one player who is voted on by the crew as the most deserving will be presented this award during the Quarterly Celebration.
Captain's Award of Merit	Presented to Starfleet Personnel who receive outstanding evaluations from the CO.
Civilian Excellence Award	Presented to any Civilian Personnel who stand out among the crowd; decided upon by the Commanding Officer of the Starship to which the person is assigned.
*Player of the Month Award (POTM) ()(#)**	Presented to the Player who best embodies the values of the Archimedes Sim; including consistent and outstanding posts, greatly assisting the GM OOC, and recruiting.

Minor Awards

The following are awarded to anyone who reaches ten posts in any given month. There are other ways for getting one of these, but they are only known to the GMs. These awards will be rather commonplace amoung our crew, since everyone loves to post! While the awards are for work done Out of Character, the recipient must justify the award in-character with a post about getting the award, and what the character did to earn it.

Below are the in-character criteria (in case of the CO, the award will be based on the character's specialisation before reaching command)


Superior Performance - Sciences	Awarded to any Starfleet Scientist, or a civilian attached to a Starfleet vessel. Presented in recognition of superlative performance as determined by an outstanding monthly personnel review.
Superior Performance - Operations(#)	Awarded to Operations Personnel in recognition of superlative performance as determined by an outstanding monthly personnel review.
Superior Performance - Engineering(#)	Awarded to Engineering Personnel in recognition of superlative performance as determined by an outstanding monthly personnel review.
Superior Performance - Security / Tactical(#)	Awarded to Security and Tactical Personnel in recognition of superlative performance as determined by an outstanding monthly personnel review.
Superior Performance - Flight Control / Pilot(#)	Awarded to Flight Control Personnel, and qualified Pilots, in recognition of superlative performance as determined by an outstanding monthly personnel review.
Superior Performance - Medical / Counseling(#)	Awarded to Medical and Counseling Personnel in recognition of superlative performance as determined by an outstanding monthly personnel review.
Superior Performance - Diplomacy	Awarded to Starfleet and civilian Diplomatic Personnel in recognition of superlative performance as determined by an outstanding monthly personnel review.
Since the awards listed above are likely to be presented many times over, there is a system for identifying subsequent recipt of the same award. For the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc award of each ribbon, a special "cage" will be placed around it. Below you will see which cage is used for how many awards.


		For example, if someone were to get the Security / Tactical award above three times, their ribbon would look like this:

Upper Echelon Awards

The following awards are the most highly coveted for those serving on the Archimedes.

Awards for Valor and Bravery
Federation Medal of Honour(#)	This is the highest award presented for heroism during combat with an armed enemy of the Federation. The actions required to earn this award include the voluntary placement of one's own life in great peril in service to others. Usually presented posthumously.
Nova Medal 1st Class(#)	This medal is awarded for great valor in combat with an armed enemy of the Federation. Actions required to earn this award will be slightly less than those required for the Federation Medal of Honour.
Civilian Distinguished Service Medal	The highest award available to civilians serving with Starfleet Personnel aboard ships or stations. For extraordinary heroism in service to the United Federation of Planets during conflict with an armed enemy of the Federation. Presented on behalf of the President of the United Federation of Planets.
Nova Medal 2nd Class(#)	Awarded for valor in combat with an armed enemy of the Federation. This award, while uncommon, holds less stringent qualifications than the 1st Class Nova Medal.
Starfleet Wound Medal(#)	Presented to Starfleet and attached personnel who are injured during combat with an armed enemy of the Federation.
*Department-Specific Awards* Each of these marks the highest achievement possible for an Officer in his/her chosen specialty.
VSI Extraordinary Achievement Award	Presented on behalf of the Vulcan Science Institute to any Scientist who makes a significant contribution to the Scientific Community.
Starfleet Services Commendation	Awarded to Starfleet Operations Personnel who have shown vast expertise and innovation in their field. Awarded by a CO in recognition of outstanding performance.
Engineering Citation	Awarded to Starfleet Engineers who excel in their field. Awarded by a CO in recognition of outstanding performance.
Tactical Excellence Award	Awarded to Starfleet Security and Tactical Personnel who stand out in their field. Awarded by a CO in recognition of outstanding performance.
Navigational Achievement	Awarded to Starfleet Flight Control Officers and those listed as qualified pilots, who have demonstrated great skill. Awarded by a CO in recognition of outstanding performance.
Hippocrates Achievement Award	Awarded to Starfleet Medical Personnel, and those civilian medcial personnel attached to a Starfleet ship or installation; who have performed duties beyond their calling to heal. Awarded by a CO in recognition of outstanding performance.
Excellence in Counseling	Awarded to Starfleet Counseling Personnel who have performed duties beyond their calling. Awarded by a CO in recognition of outstanding performance.
Palm Leaf of Axanar	Presented to members of the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps for great service to the Federation. Awarded by a CO in recognition of outstanding performance. May also be awarded to non-DC Officers who, while acting in the interests of the Federation during Diplomatic Operations, distinguish themselves in an extraordinary way.

Klingon-Only Awards

The following are available to the crew of the IKS Tagh ONLY

(These will be worn on the Warrior's Sash)

Order of K'mpec	Any Warrior who risks his/her life in saving another, shall be eligible for this award. Only the very finest and strongest Warriors are inducted into this Order, so even nomination will not guarantee entry. The Order of K'mpec was named after the longest-lived Chancellor of the High Council.
Tagh Honoured Service Medal	This award is presented to a Warrior on behalf of his/her peers. The crew of the Tagh will decide on a quarterly basis if there is anyone worthy of such an honour.
HoD's Medal	Presented to Warriors who have proven themselves invaluable to the HoD.
Heart of The Warrior	This medal is awarded to a Warrior who kills an enemy in hand-to-hand combat.
